Mikala is a Dunedin local, and after she graduated from the University of Otago with a First Class Honours Law Degree in December 2021, she joined our Team as a Law Clerk. Mikala was admitted to the Bar in June 2022.
Mikala has a particular interest in Family Law, which she considers to be a very important area of law, as it involves complex and challenging issues for families and children. Mikala works closely with her supervising partner, Rachel Cardoza, who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Family Law.
When Mikala is not at work, you will likely find her spending time with family or friends, getting a coffee and a pastry, perusing the stalls at the Otago Farmers Market on a Saturday morning, and seeing what Dunedin's local fashion boutiques and op-shops have to offer. Mikala is passionate about supporting local businesses, which has her always searching for Dunedin's (new and old) hidden gems.
